I agree. I plan to do 'something'. I am not sure yet. Perhaps the best approach is to use a third-party library and abstraction layer like everyone else does, but this does add to resource utilization. Maybe further improvements can be made 'on my own', as I would prefer it. This is always a goal of mine though, I just unfortunately seem to suck at it ;o
